What is SIGGRAPH?

ACM SIGGRAPH community is a global nonprofit organization serving the evolution of computer graphics and interactive techniques. With thousands of members across the world, the researchers, artists, developers, filmmakers, scientists, and business professionals of ACM SIGGRAPH are building the future of digital art and interactive design.

SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques) is an annual conference on computer graphics organized by the ACM SIGGRAPH, starting in 1974.

SIGGRAPH 2022 is on 8-11 August 2022 in Vancouver

SIGGRAPH ASIA 2022 is on 6-9 December 2022 in Daegu, Korea, and SIGGRAPH ASIA 2024 is in Bangkok, Thailand.

XR summary

What is XR?

XR can separate into 3 types.

1. AR (Augmented reality) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory.

2. VR (Virtual reality) is a simulated experience that can be similar to or completely different from the real world. Applications of virtual reality include entertainment (video games), education (medical or military training), and business (virtual meetings).

3. MR (Mixed reality) is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations, where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real-time.
